Ashford United regrets to inform its supporters, that Bradley Simms, a stalwart of our team and current season’s club captain, has left the club.
Additionally, Tariq Ossai, another seasoned player on the verge of marking his 100th game milestone, has also chosen to part ways with the club.
Despite our efforts to engage in constructive dialogue with both individuals, spanning Thursday evening and Saturday, they have unequivocally expressed their intent to sever ties with Ashford United, citing their desire to depart just seven games shy of the season’s conclusion.
Regrettably, despite the earnest endeavors of Interim Manager Alan Walker to persuade Brad and Tariq to honour their commitments until season-end, their resolve and desire to leave remains unwavering.
We extend our gratitude to Brad and Tariq for their commendable dedication and invaluable contributions to the club throughout their tenures and wish them well for the future.
Bradley Simms – Leaving statement
“Ashford United my home away from home for the past 5 years, we’ve made some unforgettable memories but unfortunately it’s time for me to leave and start a new venture. I know the timing may not be ideal but I’ve decided to move on to try enjoy the end to the season challenging for something.
“I’d like to thank every single fan that has ever come to support the teams I’ve played with your support was never questioned in my eyes, you all honestly are amazing and I’ve built real friendships with many of you! I hope I made you proud on and off the pitch as a Captain a player but most importantly a person.
“As for the board Don (Dad), Derek, Margret Keith and Rascal, thank you for making me feel welcome from day 1 we built a very strong relationship which truly made this decision even harder than I thought it ever would be! I wish the club as a whole nothing but the best in the future especially during this current transitioning period.
Special mentions to Ben Coles who has always been there to talk and listen when I needed it! All the players i played with over the years, all the stewards, all the bar staff; Lisa, Mark etc the best camera man in non league Ian Scammell and the best videographer Dave I’ll miss you all and will be back to see you soon!
COYNAB”
Tariq Ossai Leaving Statement
Ashford United… where do I start. This decision hasn’t come lightly and has taken continuous conversations for a while and felt that it needed to be done. For the past 5 years you have been my second home and everyone made me feel a part of the club from start to finish. The memories we have made from players on and off the pitch, to the fans and staff at the club. I owe each and every one of the ashford fans a huge debt of gratitude for sticking with me through my injuries and continued to give me the support while I was out.
I give huge thanks to the board Don, Derek, Margeret and Keith for making Ashford United such a great club, I am sure in the future they have all the tools to build the club and take it to the top and I wish them they very best with that.
The bar staff Mark and Lisa such incredible people and have truly made an honest relationship with.
Dave jones, lan and Michael scammell and even Izzy when you did some photography. Such brilliant people that brought an asset that not only us players enjoyed but everyone around the club, what you guys do is a massive credit to the Club.
