The young Nuts & Bolts fight back twice from behind to win the match versus Raynes Park Vale Under 18s.
Bostik League Youth East Division
Ashford United 3-2 Raynes Park Vale
After winning the first two games of the season going into this fixture, United sat in 2nd place level on points with Croydon Under 18s, but had the chance to go top of the table with Croydon not playing their next league fixture for a couple of days.
It was a hard fought game for both sides, with the visitors taking the lead from a corner in the 13th minute. Raynes Park certainly started the stronger side, but Barry Fuller’s side held off until the interval. United came out in the second half much more competitive, and eventually levelled after a challenge in the box, captain Callum Edwards tucked away his penalty in the 58th minute.
Raynes Park had their number 5 sent off, but still managed to take the lead due to a defensive error in the 70th minute. But this mistake was rectified as we equalised once again in the 84th minute thanks to substitute Chuck Alagbuoso who found himself sprinting rapidly into the box on the left wing and striked it cleanly past the opposition keeper.
Despite time running out, the young Nuts & Bolts fought hard for a winner, and were rewarded when Kundai Munyama found himself with the ball in the middle of the box, and after a frantic scramble, struck the ball into the top left hand corner of the net in the 90th minute to give United’s U18s all 3 points!
Next game is away to Chipstead in the FA Youth Cup on Thursday 20th September at 7.30pm.
