Kent Youth League Central Larkfield Under 15s 1-2 Ashford United Under 15s Venue – Larkfield Sports Club
Last Sunday, Ashford United U15 Kent Youth League team were away to Larkfield for their 5th league game of the season. Having had many days of heavy rain the lads were fortunate to have a bright day but had to face a some what water logged pitch which made for heavy going for both teams. The first 15 minutes of play saw possession very 50/50 with neither side really making any headway against the other. The stalemate was finally broken in the 19th minute when the Ashford boys created a lovely piece of play from the back which allowed Jeremiah Bamgbose to pop the ball through to Ronald Sithole who slotted home Ashford’s first, the Nuts & Bolts lads got the bit between their teeth and only 8 minutes later an individual run from George Mcilroy was rewarded with Ashford’s second from a 20 yard strike. Larkfield kept the pressure on and in the 34th minute got their only chance at the Ashford goal in the half which forced keeper Matt Lane to go to ground in order to make the save. The second half was a very frustrating 40 minutes for Ashford as they just couldn’t convert their chances and they had many, Larkfield did manage to claw one back mid way through the half when the Ashford defence got bogged down and could not get the ball clear from the face of goal. The match finished at 2-1 which bring Ashford’s run to 5 league games and 3 cup games without defeat.
