Kent Youth League Central Division
Ashford United Under 15s 4-1 Sevenoaks Town Under 15s
After last weeks cup win Ashford United (U15) were back in league action this Sunday at The Homelands against Sevenoaks for the 3rd game of the new season. The Ashford boys came straight into the first half seemingly still on a high from recent results and from the first whistle took control of the game and only allowed Sevenoaks into the home side half 3 times in the first 15 minutes but Sevenoaks stayed strong and kept Ashford’s attempts out until the 19th minute when a free kick from Captain Alfie Prior was headed home by new signing Gus Barnes to give Ashford the lead. A double substitution 5 minutes later brought Rowan Shardlow and Rueben London-Hobbs onto the pitch and they immediately obliged with Rowan making a charge up the right wing and sending the ball across the face of goal which Rueben powered home to put the home team 2 up. Ashfords 3rd goal came in the 36th minute when Alfie Prior got his second assist of the day as he set the ball which gave Rueben London-Hobbs his second goal and the home team went into the break with a 3-0 lead. The second half saw Ashford extend their lead to 4 with a goal from the Captain after 10 minutes, Sevenoaks kept on battling hard throughout the second half and Ashford found themselves on the back foot and defending for a good portion of this period of play until Sevenoaks managed to claw 1 back with 5 minutes left to play, the home team immediately went on the attack and had 3 more chances before the referee blew the final whistle to bring the game to a close with a 4-1 win for Ashford.
