Ashford District Youth Football League
Ashford United Under 15s 4-0 Pilgrims Under 15s
Venue – Great Chart playing fields
This was a very cold damp game against Pilgrims at their ground in Great Chart. Game started off with Pilgrims with only 10 men and Ashford had a full strength side.
Pilgrims came out fighting and were a force to be reckoned with and their defence were mighty. After 15 minutes Ewoma Akporehe scoresd his first goal of the day. This saw Pilgrims come back strong with their defence and new man Ben Codd taking down striker George Crisp which resulted in a free kick. Crisp has a strong right foot and hit the target but was defended off by the goalie.
Pilgrims tried their luck in the 1st half but unfortunately did not hit the target due to our excellent defence led by captain Declan McDonald backed up by Latiff Arnogundade, Enea Shehaj and Ben White.
The ball then went back up the pitch and this was followed by Enea Shehaj, he shot the ball and hit the back of the net. This was Enea’s first goal of the season and what a goal.
Half time was called 0-2 to Ashford.
The second half saw Pilgrims come out stronger giving our boys a run for their money.
Our next goal came from a corner kick by George Crisp who had a curve ball into the net after hitting the goalies hands. 0-3 Ashford.
Again the ball was up and down the pitch, Ewoma then scored his 2nd goal of the game by punching through a clear ball.
Game ended 0-4 to Ashford Utd – now in the final, facing Mersham at Charing playing fields on Saturday 11th May.
