East Kent Youth League Under 14s Division 2

Ashford United  2-1 Ramsgate Youth

Manager Matt Rolfe reports:

After losing our last game 2-1 to Herne Bay, this was always going to be a test for the team.

We started off quick with a lot of shots but couldn’t get them on target until just before half time, which led to a great goal by Joshua Foster-Naisbitt. The pressure then started to turn, with Ramsgate coming at us in waves after waves of attacks and it eventually paid off as the last play of the half they broke through 3 on 1, unfortunately there was nothing that goalkeeper Cameron Covey could do.

The second half kicked off with a lot of scrappy tackles from both sides but super captain Jack Cooper dribbled the ball through four players and hit the bottom corner for our second goal. We carried on our attack with Luc Rolfe and Alfie Bitmead passing the ball around but we couldn’t finish our chances. With just 10 minutes to go, Ramsgate came at us with everything they had but our defence were solid with Ben, Ollie and Jason clearing the ball out of the danger zone, and with Nathan Samways and George helping at the back we stayed strong.

It was a very deserved 3 points which moves us up to third in the table, level with the leaders Deal Town Rangers.
