East Kent Youth League Under 14s Division 2

Deal Town Rangers 2- 3 Ashford United

Our under 14s EKYL side started life in division 2 with a victory in their first game, thanks to goals from Joshua Forster-Naisbitt, William Pearson and Dan Wootton.

Manager Matt Rolfe reports:

Being our first game of the season, and being in division 2, it was always going to be hard match. Having a whole new defence for the 2018/2019 season and playing Deal Town Rangers who finished 3rd last season was going to be a big big test. But we took the lead thanks to right winger Joshua Forster-Naisbitt, a solo run from outside the box and putting it in the bottom corner. Not long after that, a short corner again from Joshua to Dan Wootton for the cross to the back post which fell to William Pearson who smashed the ball low. We went into the break leading 2-0. The second half started the same as the first with the Deal keeper saving a lot of shots but a nice pass from Luc Rolfe put Dan Wootton through 1-1 and no mistake he puts it away for Ashford United’s 3rd of the day. We sat back and a lot of pressure was put on us for the remainder of the second half but keeper Cameron Covey was in fine form between the sticks. Unfortunately we conceded 2 goals in quick time but luckily we held on for the win.

Voted by Deal, our man of the match was Luc Rolfe.

Manager statement:

We have had a great start to life in division 2, and it’s nice to carry on where we left off in division 3, with both new players and old. Everyone has worked hard to help as a team and I can’t wait for upcoming games.

Matt Rolfe and his under 14s EKYL side host Herne Bay in the league this Sunday 16th September at Homelands Stadium, 2pm kick off.
