Update from Whitmore Jason praises Alexander Above image credit to Andy Jones & Kent Online [http://www.kentonline.co.uk] We’re delighted to confirm that newly appointed coach Gary Alexander will take over as manager of Ashford United FC next season. Jason Whitmore has spoken with the website this morning… “We’ve brought Gary in for the long term future of the club. I will take a step back at the end of the season and let him bring in his own Assistant Manager. I will still be involved in the club but I just won’t be in the dugout, I will take a step upstairs as Director of Football. We’re very excited for what Gary will bring to our wonderful club and we know the fans will have something great to look forward to once this season is over. We can confirm the departure of Rohdell Gordon last week. We’re gutted to see him go but he had a very good offer put in front of him by a club very close to his door step which can’t be ignored and we wish him the best of luck going forward and thank him for his short but successful spell here at Ashford. Gary Alexander has already had a great impact by bringing in young Ola Williams from Bromley and of course big George Kamurasi back from Greenwich Borough, which we are all delighted about. We’re using the remainder of this season as a platform for next when we will be looking to compete for promotion, but of course will still be looking to pick up as many points as possible from now until the end of April.” Tonight we travel away to Cray Wanderers, before our local derby at home to Hythe Town this Saturday 20th January.
