United On Verge of Four Significant Signings

Signings will strengthen the squad in its task of winning the league to gain entry to the Ryman South League

The latest news from Homelands follows on from a successful meeting on Tuesday this week, 20th May, of the club’s management headed by Don Crosbie who agreed a new playing budget with manager Paul Chambers for the forthcoming season 2014/15 in the increased sized Southern Counties East League.

It can be revealed that the club are on the verge of making four significant new signings in order to strengthen the squad in its task of winning the league to gain entry to the Ryman South League.

Don Crosbie quoted to the Kentish Express “The meeting went well and we have agreed budgets. It is a better figure than last year and puts Paul in a stronger position but it has all got to be sustainable. We are close to signing four players all with Ryman League experience which will strengthen the squad and make us formidable”.

Following on from the clubs very near miss at being promoted this year to the Ryman South League having finished in 2nd spot in the SCEFL, the scotched loss was based on the probabilities of the reprieve of relegation from the Ryman South of third from bottom team Redhill FC, United have taken steps to further strengthen the squad following last seasons triple signings of Ryman League players Pat Kingwell, Dave Cook and Ronnie Dolan.

Dave Cook has since left the club to join Ryman outfit Hastings United.Dave never showed the form he is capable of, whilst with Ashford and the club wish him well in his future career.

The club management are pushing the club forward in their quest for improved league status. All funding for this push has to be sustainable and further measures are being put in place to maintain this funding. QHotels group, who own and run the Ashford International Hotel, have recently joined the club and have made available their fitness centre to the playing squad including their swimming pool and jacuzzi with the extras of a hot tub which will all help with fitness and quicker injury recovery for the players.
