Superb Away Win at AFC Croydon Athletic.

The 2-1 win away to AFC Croydon Athletic was the very first game in charge  for our new manager Danny Lye. In what was a hard fought encounter on the day but I think we deserved the win with a tight 2-1 score line. So a successful start for our new man in charge with lots of both old and new faces appearing and as the season unfolds I am sure that all fans will warm to the new influx.

A little about Croydon “Rams” who were reformed in 2012 and play at the Mayfield Stadium in Central Croydon ,a venue that we were familiar with from the Ashford Town days of play. The stadium seems a little worse for wear since those days with the large electronic scoreboard now gone and parts of the stadium in need of a paint refresh but I am sure the Rams will go from strength to strength having made their promotion to the SCEFL via a very strong Combined Counties league. The bar and entertainment areas were superb with freshly decorated areas and a very hospitable reception being laid on from the chairman and his associates. I feel sure that AFC Croydon Athletic will be there in the mix with several other teams ,ourselves included, at the end of the season trying to be promoted from what is arguably one of the hardest leagues to get promotion from with only the league winners enjoying the move up the football non league structure.

On now to thoughts of the next game which is an away fixture to Lordswood on Tuesday evening ,25th August with a 7-45 pm kick off .
