Nuts & Bolts make it 2 out of 2 pre-season wins

Goals from Tyrell Richardson-Brown, Dan Stubbs and Matt Day gave Ashford a well deserved victory in the pouring rain against Bostik League Premier Divison side Margate.

Both teams were evenly matched in the first half, with Kamurasi making a magical fingertip save in the 36th minute as former Maidstone attacker Alex Flisher put pressure on our defence.

Tyrell Richardson-Brown, Tom Draper and Sam Long all looked great at the break.

The visitors took the lead early in the second half as George Kamurasi was chipped in the 49th minute.

United responded immediately as young Matt Day had a great chance in the 50th minute but the ‘Gate’ keeper was there to catch.

Shaun Welford did brilliantly to force a corner in the 57th minute which led to our equaliser as Matt Day put in a low cross to Tyrell RB at the far post to tap in his first goal for the club.

Only 6 minutes later, the visitors were shocked as Danny Stubbs hit a wonderful half volley from 20 yards out which hit the top of the net for AUFC to go 2-1 up.

Matt Day, who only came on at half time, had a brilliant game and topped it off by scoring our 3rd, taking on 2 or 3 defenders on his own and shooting past the keeper.

Margate scored in the 86th minute but it was only a consolation goal as we made it 2 wins out of 2 pre-season games.

This Saturday we travel to Kings Hill Sports Park as we take on Kings Hill FC 3pm kick off.
