Match Preview: Cray Wanderers

Posted in News on 16th January 2018

A tough game away to Wanderers

This Wednesday 17th January 2018, 7.45pm kick off we travel away to Cray Wanderers FC.

The home side ground share at Bromley FC’s Hayes Lane, so fans will need to take note of the address at the bottom of the post if travelling to the match.

After Saturday’s disappointing result away to Walton Casuals, Jason Whitmore will be hoping his side get a good result against Cray Wanderers, who are unbeaten at home all season.

Cray Wanderers sit in second, just 1 point behind leaders Lewes. Their overall league record so far this season is Wins (17), Draws (11) and Losses (1). The hosts are the only Bostik League South Division side that we are yet to face so far this season.

A couple of names who may be familiar to Nuts & Bolts fans, situate within The Wands’ setup, including their coach Nathan White, and player-assistant manager Joey Vines, the latter was involved in our double winning season last year.

Newly appointed United assistant manager Gary Alexander will be involved on our sideline for the first time in this fixture and will probably be up against a familiar name to him, as Cray Wanderers recently signed former Greenwich Borough striker Charlie MacDonald, who made his debut at the weekend after coming off the bench in a 1-0 win away to Guernsey.

Cray Wanderers are in great form, having won 4 of their last 6 games including an emphatic 7-0 win at home to Shoreham, and drawing the other 2. Their only league loss of the season came away to current league leaders Lewes back in September, that game finished 2-1 to the home side.

In comparison, United’s last 6 games have included 3 wins, 2 draws and a loss, with the latter coming last time out last weekend, ending our 5 game unbeaten run.

Admission Prices for this game are:  £10 for Adults and £5:00 concessions

Kick off is at 7.45pm (Wednesday 17th January 2018), directions to the ground as per below info.

DIRECTIONS TO HAYES LANE

(PLEASE NOTE WIDTH BARRIERS AT BROMLEY END OF HAYES LANE – PLEASE USE DIRECTIONS)

POST CODE FOR SATNAV PURPOSES: BR2 9EF

Telephone Number (in case you get lost): 020 8460 5291 or 078 54796325

USING M25 MOTORWAY

Leaving the motorway at junction 4, follow the A21 to Bromley and London, for approximately 4 miles and then fork left onto the A232 signposted Croydon/Sutton. At the second set of traffic lights, turn right into Baston Road (B265), following it for about two miles as it becomes Hayes Street and then Hayes Lane. Cray Wanderers FC is on the right hand side of the road just after the mini roundabout. There is ample room for coaches to drive down the driveway, turn round and park.

NOT USING M25 MOTORWAY

Hayes Lane is situated between the A21 London to Hastings Road and the A232 Croydon to Orpington Road. You are advised to avoid heavy congestion in Bromley Town Centre. However, there is a 7ft width barrier from the A21 road in Hayes Lane so coaches should not approach from this direction.

BY TRAIN

The nearest station to the ground is Bromley South which is serviced by trains from London Victoria and the south-east coast. Trains run regularly up until about 23:30 midweek and usually later at weekends. There are also about two services an hour from London Blackfriars. If your train into London goes via East Croydon it may be easier to get off there and catch the 119 bus to the ground (approximate journey time is around 40 minutes).

ON FOOT (FROM BROMLEY SOUTH)

Turn left out of the station and then right shortly afterwards into Westmoreland Road, at the traffic lights by the T-junction near the Police Station and the Churchill building. Turn left, after the church, into Hayes Road. Take care to follow the road when it bears round to the left rather than ending up in Cameron Road. At the end of Hayes Road turn right into Hayes Lane, having first crossed Hayes Lane using the traffic island near the mini roundabout. The driveway to the ground is about 200m on your left.
