An evening at Sandyacres Football & Burgers! Fans and players alike got together yesterday evening at Sandyacres for the club’s first fundraiser event. After an expressed interest from supporters to help raise money to support Danny Lye with the team’s playing budget, a dedicated group of Nuts & Bolts got together at the Sandyhurst Lane venue to discuss ideas to raise money for the team for the coming season, & to raise awareness of the football club in the forever growing town we call home. Meanwhile, the likes of Ryan Palmer, George Kamurasi, Luke Eldridge, Shaun Welford, Paul Booth, Mikey Dalton, and others were in attendance training on the field. Mr Ernie Warren has already started up a new 100 club to raise funds, You can find Ernie just inside the turnstiles at any home game, he’ll give anyone interested a membership form. Sharon Dalton has thanked fans who attended the meeting: “A massive thank you to all that came to support the lads last night at our meeting to start our fundraising adventure to keep this team at the top where they belong. Great ideas and I am looking forward to working with all of you. We are looking to get every player sponsored either by companies or individuals. Please come and see me at any of the games or contact via here if interested, even if it’s only to sponsor a player’s sock!! A player needs as many sponsors as possible. We promise who ever can help the lads, be it company or individual, will get a mention at every opportunity in programmes etc.” Afterwards, both fans and players together enjoyed a great BBQ provided and put together by CEO Denise Peach, and owner Don Crosbie. It was great to see so many supporters join in the first fundraising meeting and we are sure it will progress strongly from there. At the end of the event, it was a delight to watch youngster Luke Eldridge sign his senior contract with the club after a successful pre-season. Congratulations Luke, fully deserved!
