Match Preview: Herne Bay

Back to Altira Park Stadium!

For the second time in just over a month, we travel to the Altira Park Stadium to take on Herne Bay in their home ground.

Last month (22nd August 2017), we returned home after a 2-0 defeat to the hosts in the 1st round of the Kent Reliance Senior Cup.

It hadn’t been long before that game, that ex manager Danny Lye had departed along with the likes of Welford, Hill, Stone and Goodchild. The team that we fielded that evening was a mixture of experience and youth, with the latter being the majority.

United coach Lee Shearer started the game, his first since 2011, and there were debuts from Kieran Bull, Trinnhallen Brisley and Ed Miller.

In front of a crowd of 202, with a large chunk being from United fans, we bowed out of the cup but with a good performance from our young side, there won’t be any fear going into tomorrow night’s match.

Following our recent 3-0 victory against Guernsey, we are urging our fans to have their singing hats on tomorrow night as the fantastic vocal support on Saturday was really appreciated by the team and staff.

Herne Bay have won 3 of their last 4 matches in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and conceding 7 in that period. Their last result was a 3-1 away defeat to Cray Wanderers.

Safe journey to all of our travelling fans as per usual, details below taken off of Herne Bay’s website!
