Match Preview: Greenwich Borough

League cup action at Homelands!

This Monday 18th September, 7.45pm kick off we welcome Greenwich Borough to Homelands Stadium as we host a 1st round fixture in the Velocity Sports Trophy.

We’ve never taken part in this competition in the past since being reformed as ‘United’, but in terms of the ‘League Cup’, last season we made it to the semi final before eventually being knocked out by Sevenoaks Town.

Last season, Greenwich reached the second round of this, when it was known as The Alan Turvey Trophy sponsored by Robert Dyas.

Borough beat Aveley 2-1 away in the first round, before being knocked out of the competition by Dulwich Hamlet at home losing by the same scoreline.

In terms of current form, Ashford have won 1, drawn 1 and lost 3 in our last 5 in all competitions, only managing to score 1 and conceding 8.

Greenwich are in better form, having won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 in their last 5 games, scoring 13 and conceding 8.

We look forward to welcoming Gary Alexander and his team, on Monday evening, with the last time we met, we lost at Homelands in April 2016 2-0 as Greenwich went on to get promoted as Champions of the SCEFL.
