Hollands turns down Barcelona…….

imageI’ve been fortunate to get a little insight into why coach Shaun Holland is staying with Ashford United for the coming season.
I asked the question “What convinced you to stay on at AUFC Shaun?
Here is his answer from his sun bed in Italy…..

Well I was offered a better package to move on to be honest, (Barcelona, he tried to tell me!) but I’ve enjoyed it at Ashford and have fallen in love with the club and supporters.

It was pretty obvious I was going to stay. We have got unfinished business with AUFC. Last season was a taste of things to come. I’m sure with what we will bring to the table next season, that we will have a squad more than capable of winning the league and getting us promoted to the Ryman.
I personally, learned a lot last year which has helped me in all aspects of the game. Ashford is a great club surrounded by good people who deserves to be playing at the next level. The support that the fans give us is second to none, from everyone shouting encouragement from around the ground, to our lads in the choir, I even have my own song! (I like the first part!) It really does help the lads on the field, so please keep the vocal support up next season.
Danny is working hard behind the scenes and sometimes his commitment goes unnoticed, but rest assured we will be fitter stronger and better come the new campaign.
Have a great summer, see you in preseason!

Shaun Holland.

So there you have it, another reason to be optimistic about next season!
I hope to bring you a few more snippets of information from more members of the team soon.
Keep checking in, we should soon be able to release our pre season friendly dates and opposition. Danny Lye is working hard on getting us some tasty games organised.
