Fun Day & Awards Summary

An excellent end to the season

Everyone at the club would like to thank all those who attended the family fun day, and also the end of season awards which took place in the evening yesterday.

Volunteers were at Homelands all day on Saturday helping prepare for the Fun Day which followed on Sunday, and were back at the ground from 9.30am setting up before the gates opened to the public at 1pm. A huge thank you to those who helped, your work has not gone unnoticed!

Mayor of Ashford, George Koowaree, arrived just after opening and spoke to various members of the public, staff, players, and also took a penalty against shot-stopper George Kamurasi which just went wide!

Kent Fire & Rescue pulled up around 2pm and were great with lots of the youngsters who were enjoying themselves in the afternoon at Homelands.

Various stalls around the ground were proving very popular, including the Tombola, Wheelbarrow of booze (very kindly provided by Greene King), and the grand draw raffle!

Face painting took place upstairs by the bar, whilst the candyfloss machine was non stop until it run out! The bouncy castle was a hit with the kids, and the rodeo bull was a tough challenge for plenty of adults.

KickUp Sports (Ryan Palmer and George Kamurasi) put on a taster training session with a number of children before the Players vs Fans kick off. Also on the pitch, Zorbing and Football Darts kept people busy all afternoon.

The match kicked off at 3pm, with the fans team training from 2.20pm. The final scoreline finished 6-2 to the players (who wore the yellow away kit), with the 2 fans goals being scored by Liam Sheldon-Smith, and AUFC’s tannoy announcer Benn Phillips.
