This weekend we take on Herne Bay away in The Bostik League South East Division, and we’ve caught up with the gaffer for our weekly squad update to keep Ashford United supporters up to date with injuries, suspensions and movement around the team.

Earlier in the week we said goodbye to Lea Dawson, who joined us in the Summer and this season made a total of 19 appearances, including 17 starts, scoring once when he got amongst the goals away to Guernsey back in August. Daws joined us from fellow Bostik side Cray Wanderers, but will now be joining their namesakes in his local side Cray Valley PM as they find themselves in the quarter finals of the Buildbase FA Vase and fighting for a place in the final at Wembley.

After Tuesday’s friendly with Folkestone Invicta, it was decided between both parties that the club should say goodbye to Stefan Cox, who moves on to get regular football. It’s unfortunate because Stefan is a great player but after his 7 game suspension which he served, it’s been hard for him to get into the starting XI with the team in such good form of late, so we understand his frustrations and wish him all the best. Stefan has joined fellow play-off hopefuls Whyteleafe FC.

With these two outgoings it’s only sensible that we bring at least one in! We’re delighted to welcome midfielder Sam Hasler on an initial one month loan deal from Folkestone Invicta. Sam was voted into the Bostik Premier team of the year last season as voted by the managers in the respective division. He has a great left foot and will be available in our squad versus Herne Bay this Saturday.

Danny Parish was taken off as a precaution in our friendly against Folkestone on Tuesday evening, but we’re hopeful he should be fine to make the squad for Saturday.

Finally, congratulations to goalkeeper Charlie Wealands who made his full senior debut for Lydd Town FC last weekend as he kept a clean sheet in their 1-0 victory over Forest Hill.
