This Tuesday 18th September 2018, we welcome local rivals Folkestone Invicta to Homelands, for our first ever competitive meeting since we reformed as Ashford United earlier this decade.

Having played Folkestone a few times over the last few years during pre-season in the George Sargeant Memorial Shield, we are certainly not unfamiliar with Invicta’s side, and this fixture will be an exciting one for sure.

So far this season, Invicta have won 4 matches, lost 4 and drawn 1 in all competitions, they currently sit 4th in the Bostik League Premier Division, tied on goal difference with second place, who are all 6 points behind the league leaders.

Folkestone boast an impressive away record so far this season, having won 3 of their 4 away games so far this campaign, with that particular defeat coming away to Burgess Hill Town in the Emirates FA Cup. Last time out, they drew 1-1 with the same opponents at Cheriton Road on 15th September.

Our only experience in this competition came last season, when we were knocked out by Gary Alexander’s Greenwich Borough in the first round at Homelands, with Sam Corne scoring once for us to lose 2-0.

Of course tomorrow, we welcome Ashford Town legend and ex manager Neil Cugley, who is the longest serving manager at a single club in the entirety of English football, having managed Folkestone Invicta since leaving Ashford Town in 1997.

We look forward to seeing a great crowd at Homelands.

Come on you Nuts and Bolts!!!
