Tommy Warrilow tells us the latest in suspensions and injuries within the first team squad.
We caught up with the gaffer this week to discuss the current situation regarding squad injuries and suspensions.
“Theo [Fairweather-Johnson] took a whack on Saturday (versus Whitstable) so we’re hoping he’s fit but we aren’t sure yet so it’ll come down to the wire for the Greenwich game on Saturday. Bode [Anidugbe] returns to the squad on Saturday but we’re still without Stefan Cox who will serve his final suspended game, and Lea Dawson who will also miss the game, as well as Three Bridges away next week. We had a bit of a thin squad last week but it was great to give our Under 18s lads the chance to get experience with the first team, it won’t be the last time either. Trey [Williams] came in very very late last week and made an impact with a very good goal which was great to see.
If we keep performing like we did in the second half last week throughout the rest of the season, I’m hoping the great atmosphere that we saw around Homelands during the game continues! The boys are still getting to know each other’s roles as it’s still a fairly new team so they should only get better from here. Everything is going in the right direction.
We welcomed Rhys Hodges from the AUFC 3rds to training this week both on Tuesday and Thursday. Roger Hadlum (3rds manager) spoke to me about him so we invited him into training with the first team and he didn’t look out of place. It’s great to have extra options in case our squad thins with injuries or suspensions in the future.
Enjoy the match on Saturday!”
