Ashford United legend Pat Kingwell releases statement
We are sad to announce that we can confirm the departure of Ashford United legend Pat Kingwell.
Pat has provided our media team with a statement regarding this news:
“I just wanted to let the fans know I’ve now left the club and would just like to thank everyone for my time at Ashford United. It’s been my decision so I can concentrate on my family life. I’d like to wish Gary and the team all the best for the coming season! – Pat”
Kingwell is the record appearance holder for Ashford United, he made 180 appearances since making his debut on 18th February 2014, when he scored on his debut in a 4-1 win over Deal Town. Overall he scored 15 times, and not a single appearance came from the substitutes bench.
Pat also played for Ashford Town last decade, playing 5 times and scoring 1 goal, making his debut on 21st August 2004.
Pat overtook Luke Cuthbert as record AUFC appearance holder on 21st October 2017 when he started against Carshalton Athletic away in a 4-2 defeat.
His final appearance as a Nuts & Bolts player was on the final game of the 2017/2018 season against Walton Casuals, as pictured below.
Gary Alexander stated in a recent interview that he would have loved to have Kingwell back at Ashford United this season but he appreciates that circumstances change in life and he wishes him the best of luck going forward and hopes we see him back at Homelands in the near future.
From everyone at Ashford United, thank you Pat for everything you’ve done for us, we hope to see you again soon!
