Fantastic 7-0 Win in F.A.Vase

The Vase Trail Starts!

The F A Vase competition for Ashford United  got away to a rearranged start following Saturdays wash out in Sussex by playing away to Hassocks fc from the Sussex County Division 1  league. Hassocks  play at the same level  to Ashford but are holding currently 17th position in their league compared to our 3rd position in the Southern  Counties East League.

On a wet and overcast Tuesday night the Hassocks ground attracted a crowd of just 79 to witness a 7-0 win for Ashford who never looked troubled at getting a favourable result having started the goal scoring spree after just 3 minutes.  Goals came from Darren Marsden (2) Kieran Byrne, Gary Mickleborough and a hatrick from Stuart Zanone put this game to bed! This win guarantees Ashford with a payday of £1200 with more prize money at stake when we take on yet another away fixture to the winners of tonight’s (Wednesday) replay between Abingdon and Littlehampton Town. Paul Chambers and his team were elated at the result and this win should restore the confidence in the team following a recent downturn of form.

We await the result of tonight’s replay in order to see if we set the sat nav to Oxfordshire or to another Sussex location. COME ON YOU GREENS!
