This weekend, our Under 16s Kent Youth League team have the opportunity to win the league on Sunday 25th March 2018, against a very tough Faversham Strike Force team.
The game is set for an 11am kick off at Homelands Stadium and if you fancy popping down to see how our youth are progressing come down and give them some support.
Ashford United senior team and Under 16s manager Jason Whitmore spoke to us this week:
“I’m sure most of the fans are aware I have been involved with the youth for a few years and this will be my last year of managing them too. I’m hoping for the boys that they can get the win they deserve and take the title. We have already played Faversham twice in the cup and league coming away with victories in both but our last game in the cup went to penalties. The boys will need to be focused and continue to play football as there are no better teams in our league at keeping the ball.”
“The top goalscorers in our team are Billy Harkness and Taylor Whitmore, both have already made their debuts in the U18 Ryman team this year. Charlie Wealands, Jack Brown, Sonny Wirt and Louis Harrison also have made their debuts.”
“I need to thank Barry Fuller and Martin Wirt as if it wasn’t for them I couldn’t have managed to juggle the first team and the U16s and I’m sure with them as a partnership next season they will go on to succeed as a team.”
A fourth home cup tie already this season brings another midweek game.
The young Nuts & Bolts fight back twice from behind to win the match versus Raynes Park Vale Under 18s.
Congratulations to Barry Fuller’s side!
Barry Fuller’s side’s 100% record continues
