3rds win again with 3-1 victory over Singleton Barn.
Ashford United 3rds 3-1 Singleton Barn FC
This was always going to be a tough game and so it proved to be. Up until the beginning of this season Singleton Barn were known as Givaudan FC, and knowing them from past seasons as I did, the game went exactly as I expected. Singletons were not going to give us three points easily, and made us work hard for the full ninety minutes. Adam Heathcote got United’s 1st goal at a time when both teams were evenly matched, but several minutes later Singleton pulled level from a penalty. When it seemed as if both teams would come off the pitch at half time with the scores even United were themselves awarded a penalty, which Jordan Price buried into the left hand corner of the net allowing United to take the lead just before the half time whistle. At the start of the second half the momentum of the game seemed to be going Singletons way, but a great volley from Gregg Moncrieff mid-way through the second half sealed all three points for United 3rds, giving them four straight wins on the bounce. Man of the Match for United 3rds was Tom McDonald. Well played guys, cheers. – Roger Hadlum, Manager of Ashford United 3rds.
