Our 3rds bounce back from opening day defeat
Lydd Grasshopper Reserves 2- 7 Ashford United 3rds
Following last week’s loss, Ashford United 3rds travelled to Lydd to take on Lydd Grasshopper Reserves. United began the game brightly and looked the most like to score first, but football being the game that it is United found themselves unlucky to go a goal down. The fact that it was an own goal made matters worse. But United did not allow it to affect their game and continued to push forward and eventually pull level. By half-time United found themselves 3-1 up and were able to come into the break the happiest of both teams. From the start of the second half Lydd Res came out and began to push forward in an effort to take the game to United, but as often happens when your behind and trying to get back into the game Lydd fell further behind from an own goal. All credit to Lydd they did not stop playing football and continued to take the game to United and pulled a goal back. But this was be United’s day as they rattled in 3 more goals to take their tally to 7. United’s goal scorers were Adam Heathcote (3), Tom McDonald, Rhys Hodges, Craig Hagley. OG Jordan Price. Hat-trick hero Adam Heathcote was man of the match for United. Roger Hadlum Ashford United 3rds Manager
