Ashford United 3rds 4-2 Bromley Green Reserves
Ashford & District Sunday Football League
Played at The Ridge, Kennington on Sunday 12th May 2019
If you’re drawn to play against Bromley Green then you can expect a tough game and so this match proved to be. It was certainly a busy day for the Referee who, to his credit kept a tight rein on the match. Bromley Green Res took the lead but a goal by Tom McDonald pulled us level a short while later. With five minutes to go before half time Ivan Kirov celebrated being picked to play for the under 23’s this week by sending a 30 yard shot into the top of the net allowing us to come off at half time 2/1 up. We began the second half knowing that a 1 goal lead would not be enough to take the game and before we had settled back into the match Bromley Green Res hit their second goal to pull level. As the clock ticked away and the game looked to be heading for a draw Tom McDonald collected the ball in mid-field and burst forward to score his second goal of the game. Not long after that Rhys Hodges found himself with the ball and turning quickly burst through the Bromley Green Res back line to plant the ball in the back of the net taking the score to 4-2 for Ashford United 3rds. Jake Hayward also celebrated being picked for the under 23s this week by winning man of the match. Well done the 3rds, cheers Roger Hadlum Manager of Ashford United 3rds.
