United win 5-1 to top table
Ashford United 3rds 5-1 Kingsnorth Pilgrims
Played at The Ridge, Kennington, Ashford
This was a good win for United 3rds who have now taken their run of unbeaten games to 5 on the bounce. Following a nervy start United 3rds found themselves going 1 down in the first five minutes and struggling to cope with the early pressure from Kingsnorth Pilgrims. But following some solid work in defence by James Wratten-Wood, Sean Corps, Daniel Davies and Ralph Phelps to keep Kingsnorth out, striker Rhys Hodges scored to bring the game level. With the midfield of Craig Hagley, Tom Mcdonald, Liam Overy and Josh White working well together United 3rds slowly began to drag their way back into the game. Strikers Adam Heathcote and Rhys Hodges had several chances to score before half time but United 3rds were happy to come off with the score line at 1 apiece following a patchy start to the game. It was not long into the second half before Rhys Hodges broke free to score his second goal giving United 3rds the lead. Rhys Hodges went on to score another 2 goals giving him 4 for the match and another was scored by right back James Wratten-Wood who collected the ball in mid field, and following a good run buried the ball into the left corner of the net. Craig Hagely was voted Man of the Match, deservedly so. Well done guys, cheers – Roger Hadlum Manager of Ashford United 3rds.
